Eamonn Andrews was born on 19 December 1922.
He was initially an insurance clerk, won the Irish middleweight boxing title in 1944
to then become a full-time sports broadcaster in 1946.
He moved to London 1950 to become a BBC presenter for "What’s My Line" and
"This is Your Life". He won the News Chronicle top TV personality Award for both
1956 and 1957. He established Broadcasting Theatrical Productions,
later to become Eamonn Andrews Studios. In 1959 he advised the Irish government
on television, 1959 going onto become part-time chairman of
Broadcasting Authority (RTÉ) from 1960-66 (RTÉ was launched in 1961).
Irish business connections including Gaiety Theatre, recording studios,
dance hall. He became a Knight of St Gregory in 1964, a commander of Order of
British Empire in 1970. He died in a London hospital on 5 November in 1987.
A FABULOUS voice. One that will be sadly missed.

Part 2 reveals that the protagonist, although having wandered for weeks in the desert and run out of food and water, nevertheless makes it back to civilisation and recounts the gruesome tale of the wandering miner and his cattle which led to this desolate landscape). Nevertheless, it still made the UK Top 20 in early 1956
